"Fighting Forgetfulness"

Central Passage: Titus 3:1-8

Outline:

• Proposition: We must fight our natural tendency to forget. Guard and teach sound doctrine so that we will be ready to do good works.

1. Don't Forget to Do Good (3:1-2, 5 "Be" exhortations)
   1. Be submissive to authorities.
   2. Be ready for every good work.
   3. Be respectful--do not blaspheme others.
   4. Be peacemakers, and avoid quarreling.
   5. Be considerate, humble and courteous (cf. Titus 2:10).

3. Don't Forget the Gospel (3:4-8)

• Conclusion:
  1. Don't forget what Jesus has done.
  2. Don't forget the testimony and presence of the Holy Spirit who created new hearts (Ezek 36:25-27).
  3. The gospel alone is our fuel to do good (cf. Luke 15:11-32).
